About IPES

IPES is a private institute for clinical research and health education, based in Porto Velho, the capital of Rondônia, in Brazil’s Western Amazon. We were founded to close a specific gap: clinical research in Brazil concentrates in the South and Southeast, and the population of the North is largely absent from the evidence that guides its own treatment.

That absence is not academic. Treatment guidelines built on populations elsewhere are applied here every day, to patients with different exposures, different comorbidity patterns and different access histories. Producing evidence locally is the point of this institute.

We combine two functions deliberately. As a research site, we run sponsored clinical trials to international standards. As a teaching institute, we train local health professionals in research methods — which is also how we build the team a site like this needs, in a region where that experience is scarce.
